Welcome

Welcome to my new web site. I had to change the platform of my site and move into the more powerful Drupal 7 so that I can better manage the content and offer new functionality. Here you will be able to find technical non technical views, technological articles and some biographical information about me. The site is currently under construction. As you can easily see, I pay little or no attention to the aesthetics of the site but I hope that someday I will be able give out even a single page that could be of interest to someone else.

Backup svn repository

If you are looking for a tool to facilitate naming of your svn backups, grab the svn_repository_backup.sh.

This bash shell script manages incremental and full backups, creates automatically proper backup names and can push the backup over ssh to a remote server (via a passwordless ssh key).

It is my observation that Computer Science often lacks solid foundations of its constructs. It is very common that technology is developed and adopted before concepts and concerns are developed. There are many examples out there. Take a look at the SOAP Web Services hype, that has taken a large step back, the thin client hype, which is now dead however led the ICT world a big leap to the past etc. One common effect of development before the formalization of concepts is that terms get cannibalized or misused.

Network Occasionally Lost on Hyper-V VM

For a long time I experienced the issue of network adapter on a virtual machine being disconnecting without an obvious reason, making it impossible to work on the machine.

Finally the solution was as easy as to disable offloading of operations to the physical network adapter.
